Sony's XM-4060GTX Xplod model
4-channel automotive power amplifier delivers maximum power for a minimum of
setup hassle. The class A/B amp is capable of powering 2 sets of speakers (front
and rear, for instance) in 4-channel mode at 60 watts per channel RMS
(continuous) into 4-ohm speakers (120 watts peak), or up to 150 wpc peak into
2-ohm speakers. Alternately, you can use it as a 3-channel amp to drive 1 set of
speakers and a dedicated subwoofer (60 wpc x 2 plus 150 watts x 1). Using
biwirable speakers? You'll enjoy a clean 120 wpc x 2 into a single pair of
2-way, 4-ohm speakers (powering each driver individually).
This Sony 4-Channel 60W x 4 Car Amplifier is equipped with an ultra-quick MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor
Field Effect Transistor) power supply and MOSFET output devices made to handle
high volumes of current while providing optimal frequency response and control.
Its built-in power regulator converts the power supplied by the car's DC 12V
battery into high-speed pulses using a semiconductor switch. These pulses are
stepped-up by the built-in pulse transformer and separated into both positive
and negative power supplies before being converted into direct current (DC)
again. This lightweight power supply provides highly efficient power with a
low-impedance output.
